SUNDAY 14 June | ARRIVE TORBAY Introduction to host families

MONDAY 15 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS take place at 61 Abbey Road Torquay, TQ2 5NN. This is situated close to the town centre and a short walk from the beach and harbour area 13:00 Depart for GUIDED WALKING TOUR OF TORQUAY town centre, harbour and beach area. After the tour you will be able to take in the holiday atmosphere of a busy seaside town and enjoy some time relaxing on the beach www.englishriviera.co.uk 20:00 Meet your group leader outside the PAVILION, for a get-together and a drink, overlooking Torquay Marina

TUESDAY 16 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS 13:30 AFTERNOON EXCURSION ACROSS TORBAY BY BOAT to the picturesque fishing port of BRIXHAM. This is a very pretty town with lots of colourful buildings and shops. It is full of history and has a replica of the Golden Hind commanded by Sir Francis Drake. Take a walk around the harbour and maybe buy cockles and mussels to eat; or try jellied eels and whelks in the English tradition!

| WEDNESDAY 17 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS 13:00 VISIT to BYGONES a step back in time to Victorian England. After the visit enjoy the atmosphere of BABBACOMBE FAYRE, the start of the Babbacombe Festival 20:00 Meet your group leader outside the TORBAY HOTEL for an EVENING of DANCING

THURSDAY 18 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS 13:00 MUSEUM VISIT 14:30 ‘WALKING RALLY’ Follow the trail, look for clues and answer some questions! Prizes will be given for the best and most correct answers! You will need to bring your map and pen. 20:00 Meet your group leader at the Clock tower for a social evening at the HOLE IN THE WALL pub. This is a typical ‘olde English’ pub with live music

FRIDAY 19 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS 13:00 AFTERNOON EXCURSION TO the Roman City of EXETER, the County town of Devon, with its famous cathedral and maritime museum. The historic quayside with industrial buildings and warehouses has been transformed into a beautiful area of shops and cafes, and the old Custom House is the oldest in the country! 20:00 meet your group leader outside SHAMUS O’DONNELL’S Irish pub. SATURDAY 20 June | FULL DAY EXCURSION BY BOAT along the south Devon coast to the picturesque historic town of DARTMOUTH on the river Dart. www.dartmouthtouristinformation.co.uk The town has a long Naval history and is home to The Royal Naval college

SUNDAY 21 June | 10:00 Meet outside the entrance to Paignton Pier for a coastal walk to Brixham. Approximately 8km. Wonderful views and very good exercise. You will need sensible walking shoes. The journey back is easier; we will take the no. 12 bus! 20:00 Meet at the HOLE IN THE WALL pub for a drink and social evening! |
MONDAY 22 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS 14:00 EXCURSION to KENTS CAVERN. Discover an underground world that time has forgotten, but you will remember forever! EVENING Optional visit to the CINEMA. Details of films and times will be advised by your group leader

| 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS 14:00 AGATHA CHRISTIE MILE Pick-up clues along the Agatha Christie Mile to solve the MYSTERY PUZZLE. It’s a great way of exploring Torquay seafront and the harbour www.torbay-online.co.uk/Welcome.asp Optional EVENING BOAT CRUISE AROUND THE BAY. This is a superb way to see the English Riviera, by night, in all its glory! |
WEDNESDAY 24 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS 13:00 AFTERNOON WALK and VISIT to COCKINGTON VILLAGE to see typical Devonshire thatched roof cottages in one of the quaintest villages in England. You are able to observe Potters, Blacksmiths, Carpenters and glass blowers working in the traditional way. FRIDAY 26 June | 09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATES AND PRIZES! FREE TIME for last minute shopping and relaxation on the beach or 14:00 Optional visit to LIVING COASTS where you can see birds and mammals in a natural environment and the penguins up to their amusing antics! Living Coasts 20:00 meet your group leader at SHAMUS O’DONNELL’S Irish pub for a farewell get-together. |
