09:00-10:30 & 11:00-12:30 LESSONS at Northampton College, Lower Mounts, Northampton NN1 3DE
12:45 Meet Mr John Brown, in the reception area, for a Walking TOUR OF NORTHAMPTON followed by time to explore the many shops and get to know the town centre. There are some nice street cafes where you can stop for a coffee or a good English ‘cuppa’
20:00 Visit to a typical English pub - The White Elephant, on the Kettering Road

13:00 Visit to the CENTRAL MUSEUM for a talk by Jon-Paul Carr on Inventions and Inventors of Victorian Northamptonshire with time to view its famous shoe collection and ART GALLERY
Followed by a tour of The Charles Rennie Mackintosh House and galleries at 78 Derngate. www.78derngate.org.uk After the tour you will be served Afternoon Tea in The Dining Room

Afternoon Activity: NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNTRYSIDE TOUR this is a very rural county with picturesque villages and ancient churches
Evening Activity: A visit to the Picturedrome pub with live Jazz Music

Afternoon activity: Visit to ABINGTON PARK and the ABINGTON PARK MUSEUM. The park is a popular recreational area for locals and visitors. Watch a game of ‘Bowls’ or take a stroll around the lake

EXCURSION TO LONDON  guided coach tour with photo-stop opportunities and a chance to go exploring and shopping in the world famous Oxford Street

Afternoon activity: Visit to THE GUILDHALL with guided tour by Kate Wills. The Guildhall is a fine example of Victorian Gothic architecture
Evening activity: Country Pub Tour, a chance to visit some village pubs, old and full of character. Bring your singing voices for the journey, it’s traditional to sing on these occasions!

Friday
13 August

 

09:00-10:30 & 11:00-12:30 LESSONS
Afternoon activity: Oxford College of English GOODBYE LUNCH at a local Chinese restaurant. Eat as much as you like! A last chance for everyone to be together, enjoy a meal out, and have a chat. Afterwards make the most of a little free time to do some last minute shopping or join us in The Shipman’s Inn for a final drink!
